Wire Fox Terrier Information
Wire Fox Terrier Description:The origin of the Wire Fox Terrier lies in England. The breed dates back to the 17th century. It is believed to be result of crossbreeding between the Dachshunds, English Hound, Fox Hound and Beagle. The dog gets its name from its wirehaired coat and its excellent ability to hunt foxes. In fact, it was primarily bred for hunting foxes and other small animals. Although historical evidence suggests that the breed was owned by the royal family of England at one point of time, it was never popular as a family dog until the mid 20th century. The dog was first recognized by the AKC in 1885. |
