Irish Red And White Setter Description:The origin of the Irish Red and White Setter lies in Ireland. This breed dates back to the 17th century when it was used primarily as a working breed. Back then, the breed was available as partly colored red and white breed as well as solid colored red breed. However, by the end of the 19th century, people started preferring the solid red variety which led to the decline of the partly colored red and white breed. Due to the concerted breeding efforts, the partly colored breed was revived. The breed was first recognized by the AKC in 2009. |
Irish Red And White Setter Care & Grooming:The Irish Red and White Setter is an average shedder. Its smooth and silky coat needs regular grooming to avoid tangles and matting. Almost daily brushing with a firm bristle brush is required to keep to its coat healthy. It should be bathed only when necessary and must be dried properly after each bath. Its ears and eyes should be cleaned properly to avoid any infection. Its nail and the hair around eyes, ears and paws should be trimmed regularly. |
