Norfolk Terrier Information
Norfolk Terrier Description:The origin of the Norfolk Terrier lies in East Anglia, England. The breed dates back to the latter part of the 19th century. The breed was developed by crossbreeding local terrier breeds with Irish Terrier and red terrier breeds used by the Gypsies of Norfolk. The breed was earlier categorized the same as the Norwich Terrier. In 1964, the two breeds were recognized as different breeds, the drop ear variety getting the name Norfolk Terrier. The breed underwent a lot of name changes before it was named the Norfolk Terrier. The breed was first recognized by the AKC in 1979. |
Norfolk Terrier Care & Grooming:The Norfolk Terrier sheds little hair. Its coarse and wiry coat needs regular grooming. The coat needs to be brushed at least 3-4 times a week, and should be clipped in every 4 to 5 months. It should be bathed only when necessary and must be dried properly after each bath. Its nail and the hair around eyes, ears and paws should be trimmed properly. Its beard should be cleaned properly after each meal to remove any food remains. |
